Position Title           : JANITOR

Term                        : Permanent, Full-Time

Location                  : Vancouver, BC

Position Summary

The Janitors are responsible for ensuring that all uniforms and production utensils are properly cleaned.  The incumbents must also ensure the housekeeping of designated areas of the Production Plant and Warehouse are kept hygienically clean, tidy and organized as assigned by the Supervisor.

Major Position Accountabilities

General Duties  (All Positions)

n          Collects, handles and discards garbage in a hygienic manner

n          Sweeps or mops or vacuums in the assigned areas of Sunrise Soya Foods

n          Cleans designated areas of the Sunrise Soya Foods as assigned by the Supervisor and also by the designated Janitorial Titles ( Basket Washer / Janitor General / Laundry Room )

n          Follows all working procedures including using the correct cleaning chemicals and correct concentration of the cleaning chemicals

n          Follows all safety procedures and wears all the protective equipment/clothing when working

n          Reports any machinery problems to the Janitorial Supervisor or Maintenance Manager

n          Reports any safety issues to the Janitorial Supervisor or Safety Officer

n          Follows all company policies, e.g. Time card policies, vacation policies, GMP, etc.

n          Carries out special assignments assigned by the Supervisor

A) Basket Washer ( Specific Duties )

l      Washes buckets, baskets, trays, containers, screens and tofu carts (ensures they are clean and free of chemical residual)

l      Washes okara hoses

l      Transfers the cleaned items to the assigned area

B) General Janitor ( Specific Duties )

n          Collects and disposes garbage from the production, maintenance, lab and office areas

n          Sweeps, mops, and vacuums all the assigned areas (production, lab and office)

n          Cleans all the assigned areas (production, lab, office and shipping)

n          Cuts the grass in front and back of the Sunrise building (monthly)

C)  Laundry Room ( Specific Duties )

n          Washes and dries the staff uniforms

n          Sweeps, mops, and vacuums all the assigned areas (production, office and shipping)

n          Cleans all the assigned areas (production, lab, office and shipping)

n          Sweeps and picks up garbage in the front and back street of the Sunrise building, including the China Cereal area

n          Cleans assigned items in the administrative, shipping and customer service offices

n          Collects and disposes garbage from the production and shipping area

Working Conditions

l          Manufacturing areas, warehouses, laundry room, basket-washing room, loading docks, surroundings of company premise.

l          Frequent handling of cleaning chemicals

l          Exposure to: loud noises and a wet environment requires various personal protective equipment and clothing to be worn while working

l          Lifting is required

Job Specifications

l          High school graduate or equivalent qualification

Related Experience

l          Experience working in a food manufacturing plant is an asset

Other Requirements

l          Good interpersonal and communication skills

l          Ability to speak and write in Chinese a definite asset.

l          English is an asset

l          Good teamwork and team player

l          Physically fit
