1 pkg Sunrise Extra Firm Tofu
½ cup Sunrise Unsweetened Soya Beverage 1.89L
    ⅓ cup cornstarch
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp black pepper
    ½ tsp cayenne Pepper
    1½ cups panko bread crumbs
    1 tbsp paprika
    1 tsp garlic powder
    1 tsp onion powder
    2 tbsp vegetable oil
    Buffalo Hot Sauce
    ½ cup cayenne hot sauce
    2 tbsp vegan butter
    1 tbsp brown sugar
    1 tsp apple cider vinegar
    1 clove garlic , minced

    Directions

    1. Drain tofu and transfer to plate. Place another plate on top, then top with a large can or weight. Press for 30 minutes to extract excess liquid.
    2. Slice tofu into 6 even slabs. Slice each slab lengthwise into 3 sticks.
    3. In medium bowl, whisk together soya beverage, cornstarch, salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper.
    4. In another medium bowl, stir together panko, paprika, garlic powder and onion powder.
    5. Toss tofu sticks in cornstarch mixture until well coated, then toss in panko mixture until evenly coated. Transfer to parchment paper–lined baking sheet. Let stand for 10 minutes.
    6. Meanwhile, preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C)
    7. In batches, arrange tofu sticks in air-fryer basket. Do not overcrowd. Drizzle with a little oil. Air-fry tofu sticks, shaking basket halfway through, for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
    8. Prepare Buffalo hot sauce in small saucepan set over medium heat, stir together hot sauce, vegan butter, brown sugar, vinegar and garlic until simmering and butter has melted.
    9. Toss air-fried tofu sticks in Buffalo hot sauce.

    Tip

For milder Buffalo tofu strips, reduce cayenne pepper to 1/4 tsp (1 mL) and substitute half the hot sauce with your favorite barbecue sauce.
