Maintenance Technician – Millwright

Millwright supports facility operations and is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of food-grade processing equipment, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our plant. This role is essential in maintaining product quality, safety, and uptime in a fast-paced, sanitary food production environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and machinery used in tofu production, including pumps, conveyors, mixers, and packaging equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Conduct routine inspections on equipment and systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and respond to breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
- Ensure machinery is aligned, calibrated, and operating efficiently and safely.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and implement effective solutions.
- Maintain and service hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems.
- Fabricate parts as needed using hand and power tools, including welding when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs using CMMS or logbooks.
- Adhere strictly to food safety and sanitation standards, including clean-in-place (CIP) procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Participate in continuous improvement and safety initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
- Certified Millwright or completion of an approved apprenticeship program (Red Seal).
- Welding and fabrication experience (TIG welding for stainless steel is preferred).
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing or food processing environment is preferred.
- Proven experience working with industrial machinery and mechanical systems
- Familiarity with tofu or soy-based food processing equipment is preferred
- Forklift certification and/or experience operating lifts and hoists is preferred
- Strong understanding of food-grade equipment and sanitary design principles.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and rigging.
- Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
- Skilled in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces
- Good verbal and written English language skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and a team-orientated mindset
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
- Self-starter, strong organizational and time management skills.
- Detail oriented and ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision.
WORK CONDITIONS
- Permanent full-time (40 hours per week) position.
- Work is performed in an office environment and production facility
- Exposure to noise, humidity, wet, steam, food ingredients environment when in the production area
- Flexible hours including nights, weekends, on-call and holidays as required to meet business needs
- Wearing of company provided Uniform and other Personal Protective Equipment is required as applicable
