Operations Supervisor – Night Shift

POSITION SUMMARY
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising and mentoring Sanitation and Production staff. The incumbent is accountable for all production/packaging activities during the shift as well as ensuring sanitation tasks are completed before the start of the next production shift.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises and provides guidance to the sanitation and production staff.
- Schedules sanitation staff based on production requirement.
- Updates and verifies MSS in conjunction with QA manager.
- Performs chemical titration to ensure all chemicals used for CIP/COP are within specs.
- Assigns daily & weekly tasks to sanitation team based on Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Trouble shoots problems on CIP system, reporting issues to maintenance & QA departments.
- Performs daily Pre-Op inspections with QA to ensure Plant Quality Program requirements are met.
- Monitors cooler temperatures, follows established protocol on any deviations.
- Perform CCP checks as per QA requirements.
- Ensure all Sanitation, QA & Production records are filled in properly.
- Attends daily shift-change meetings with production supervisors.
- Conducts weekly staff meeting to address and discuss any operations related issues and concerns.
- Enforces safe work procedures to meet OHS requirements; reports any workplace incidents and facilitates early return-to-work process.
- Conducts probationary and annual performance reviews with subordinates, approves vacation requests and timecards.
- Other duties or projects as assigned by Plant Manager
QUALIFICAITONS
- College Diploma or Post-Secondary Vocational/Technical School Diploma
- 2 years’ experience in food plant sanitation desired
- 2 years progressive supervisory experience
- Previous experience in Production & Labour scheduling.
- Ability / Willingness to obtain Intermediate First Aid
- Good written and verbal English
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective team player
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
WORKING CONDITIONS
- 70% in the production floor and 30% in an office setting
- Permanent Full-Time position (40 hours per week)
- Available to work any day/ any shift of the week to meet production requirements
- Exposure to loud noises and required to wear various personal protective equipment while working
- Salary: $65, 000-$80, 000
